Local inventor develops
PAPER-TRACKER
The "ANYWHERE" Document, Note, and Picture Holder
Developer Howard Bing had an idea for a document/picture
holder that could be attached to a computer monitor:
something other than using Post-it® notes or tape. He
envisioned a device that could 1) be used in a variety of
orientations without damaging documents or photos, 2)
provide visibility, and 3) allow for repeated posting of a
document or picture. And so originated PAPER-TRACKER.
Application ideas for the office, home and shop expanded the
original 11" direct-mount Standard PAPER-TRACKER to include
a 5.5" direct-mount Mini-version, a 5.5" and 11" Desktop
version, and a Double-Clip Accessory, and Magnetic-Clip
Accessory. The PAPER-TRACKER product line gives anyone
freedom to view notes and photos almost anywhere - attached
to a computer monitor, computer keyboard, telephone, desk
organizer, in/out trays, a shelf, a car visor or lamp post;
or under a cabinet or on a desktop/tabletop - well, just
about anywhere!
PAPER-TRACKER products can be customized for resale or
promotional items. The Standard and Mini versions are
available with various inspirational and humorous sayings.
Mr. Knox, a PAPER-TRACKER user states, "This is a
wonderfully useful product. I use four at my office and a
couple at home."
From Clutter to Invention
with PAPER-TRACKER
BURIEN, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2004--
In 1999 Richard "Dick"
Bennett looked at the paper clutter around his computer
monitor and decided a new invention was needed. Family
photos and little scraps of paper with "to do" lists, phone
numbers and other necessary information were attached with
sticky notes and tape around Bennett's monitor. Bennett
realized that these bits of paper could be organized
uniquely between four offset lightweight clear plastic tabs
bound together on one side with a lightweight plastic
binding. Bennett shared his idea with Howard Bing, president
of a Burien, Washington-based software
development/distribution company. The two partnered to
develop a new line of useful products called PAPER-TRACKER(TM),
the "anywhere" document and picture holder.
In 2002 Bing and his son,
Marcus, formed Corbitz, Ltd. to develop the product line and
take it to market. Bing found that PAPER-TRACKER(TM) could
be mounted to an object with double-sided tape, placed into
a table-top stand, or be placed in a double swivel clip or a
magnet clip to attach PAPER-TRACKER almost anywhere. He
experimented with product variations and found hundreds of
office, home and shop applications including wheelchair
accessory, recipe holder and car visor note keeper. Bing
produced several variations and had some imprinted to
demonstrate their use as inspirational and promotional
products.
Product marketing to the
corporate promotions market and retailers is underway.
Product samples have been distributed to office and kitchen
supply companies and corporate buyers. Direct sales are
being taken through the company web store at
www.papertracker.net and from product display space at The
CouldBee Shops, a retail business incubator, located at 604
SW 152nd St. Burien, WA 98166.
Creating demand for a new
product is challenging, but the early orders and "Wow, this
is cool! ... Let me show this to my boss" responses keep
marketing staff motivated.
